Pet Friendly Hotels

Many dog and cat owners consider their pets family members and hate the thought of leaving their furry little friend behind when traveling. Alas, rejoice pet lovers! You are no longer doomed to a lifetime of only campgrounds; there are an increasing number of hotels which offer pet friendly accommodations found across the country. To locate a pet friendly hotel near your destination, there are numerous databases which can be researched online. Many pet friendly hotels are large chain hotels in which you can find comfort in familiarity. If doing research online, place a call to the hotel to make sure the information is current and still valid prior to placing a reservation.

Also, different hotels enforce certain guidelines and regulations regarding their pet policy; most regarding the size and number of animals allowed. For instance, some hotels only allow pets up to 25 pounds while others will allow up to 50 pounds, so it is important to verify all information. The fee for the pet rental varies and can be charged nightly anywhere from $10 to $50 or in one lump sum upon check in or out.

When traveling with your pet, always carry medical records and proof of vaccinations. Most hotels will want to verify rabies vaccination is up to date before allowing a dog to stay the night. If possible, request a room on the ground floor to have quick easy access to the outdoors for bathroom breaks. It is also important to not leave your pet in the room unattended. Stated in most hotel rules, it is just good sense; not only will your dog be very anxious alone in an unfamiliar place, they may bark excessively disturbing other guests or act destructively towards the room. Traveling with your dog or cat can be a rewarding experience, but make sure of the animal's comfort and be courteous of non pet owners at all times.
