Miniature dogs are very bright and learn quickly. A lot of energy and patience is needed with this dog. This is a very spirited dog, and can possibly get spoiled. Make sure you vaccinate your dog as soon as possible and make sure she gets her yearly booster shot to maintain immunity from disease. No one wants to have a sick dog on their hands. You should also worm your adult dog every three months and consult your veterinarian about flea control products to control those itchy fleas that can haunt your miniature. Feed your miniature dog high-grade dog food. The first ingredient should be meat. Crude protein should be no less than thirty percent and crude fat no less than twenty percent. The fiber content needs to be forty percent or less. It is good to socialize your miniature dog to be with children and other animals at an early age.

Some miniature dogs do not play well with small children because children can get too rough with them. Children may forget that just because a dog is small in size, that it is not a toy. These types of dogs should not be annoyed, though small. they can get hostile. Even with other dogs they may show their hostility. These small dogs have a lot of personality, and they’ll quickly assert authority over the household. Exercise and walk your dog daily. This type of dog does not require a lot of exercise but should have a regular play area. Keep the play area nice and clean and in a safe place. Brush your dogs coat every couple of days. The coat stays reasonably clean. Make sure you use a damp cloth to clean it as needed.

Miniature dogs do not necessarily need to be shampooed all of the time. Certain types of shampoos can dry out the coat of the dog. So definitely be cautious of this. Once you have down all of the basics and necessities of your miniature dog, the fun will still continue.
