Human Grade Dog Food

The first attribute of human grade dog food is that it is not processed in a pet food rendering plant. Human grade dog food is made in an FDA inspected and approved facility. Many of these facilities do not allow animal feed grade, or low grade and unsuitable for human consumption meats and other products.

Many pet food operations specifically seek low grade and potentially dangerous meat by-products and fillers in order to save money, increase output, and meet the demands of large markets. Often human grade dog food is made in local facilities, and these products go to local markets and sell quickly thus avoiding the need for many preservatives and unnatural ingredients.

Another key aspect of human grade dog food is that it is not over-processed via the heat, pressure, and force associated with pet food rendering plants. When these processes are used, many of the nutrients are leeched from the dog food which can lead to poor taste, a lack of essential vitamins and minerals, as well as a discoloration of the food. Human grade dog food retains its natural color and flavor and maintains a high level of mineral and vitamin content essential to your dog’s health.

High-health raw food offering for dogs, especially those who are who are intolerant of grains is a key component of some human grade dog food. This food is made from organic flaxseed, potatoes, celery, cabbage, sweet potatoes, zucchini, green beans, apples, honey, alfalfa, kelp, yogurt, bananas, papayas, basil, garlic, rosemary, as well as added vitamins and minerals.

Most human grade dog food requires no cooking either. It should simply be hydrated with 1 to 1.25 cups of pure, warm, filtered or tap water or boiled water that has been allowed to cool. It is best not to add boiling water directly to human grade dog food; this will destroy many of the enzymes & nutrients present. Add the water to the food and stir. Let the dog food stand for ten minutes minimum, for the ingredients to re-hydrate sufficiently. You may even then add your own raw meat, meaty bones, cooked meat or other ingredients. Human grade dog food is an excellent affordable alternative to commercial dog food.
