Dog Sweaters
Dog sweaters, although part of the larger
new trend
in dog apparel, have been around for years and serve an important function
other than just couture. Dog sweaters may be essential in some climates
for smaller breeds of dogs, short haired or underweight dogs to keep warm
while outdoors during the harsh winter months. By bundling up your little
pal in a cozy sweater, daily walks around the block are still possible during
the colder months and will give your dog that much needed sunshine and fresh
air while keeping them warm.
The varieties of canine sweaters are endless and are available in every
style, color and pattern imaginable. Seasonal designs allow your dog to
show their festive side while staying nice and warm. The style of dog sweaters
also differ in the way the garment is put on the dog. For example, some
sweaters are pullovers while others fasten in the front. Likewise, most
dog sweaters only cover the front two legs, but some go over all four legs
if you wish. The style chosen will depend on your dog and how easy it is
to try and get a sweater on them! It might not be a good idea to try and
start with a pullover, or you may find that they can manage to open a front
fastening sweater. In other words, its trial and error, but never force
a dog’s legs or head due to risk of serious injury.
If your dog will need to wear a sweater to go outdoors, start when they
are a very young puppy. Not only do puppies lose body heat quicker, it will
make wearing a sweater almost second nature by the time they reach adulthood.
If started early, wearing a garment is not a threatening or intimidating
thing and they may even stand still being dressed!
