Dog Shampoo

It’s time for your little pooch to get a good dog shampooing. From every day playing and getting dirty and getting stinky, it is about that time. Some people especially older children love to give a good dog shampoo to their animals. Instead of making your dog suffer under a cold water hose outside, you can bring the dog shampoo and towels inside of the house, and bathe him in the bathtub.

You should first get a medium sized bucket, large towels and a hair dryer in a nice warm and comfortable bathroom. Make sure that the shower mat is tightly in place so that your dog can not accidentally fall in the bathtub. You definitely do not want to have a bruised and hurt dog on your hands. Before you turn on the water in the bathtub, isolate the dog in the bathroom. If the bathroom door is open, the dog may run out when he realizes what is going on, and then be prepared for a great doggie chase.

When you pick a dog shampoo make sure the dog shampoo will not bother the dog’s eyes. You can protect the dog’s eyes from the shampoo by using a lubricating eye ointment. Your veterinarian can provide you with this ointment. Use the bucket of water to wet the dog from its head down to its tail. Don’t forget to get the underside of the dog, and try your best not to get soap in his eyes. Now its time to apply the dog shampoo. Apply a small amount of dog shampoo on the top of the dogs head. Lather down the dog from its head down to its tail. Be careful when you do this. Many dogs do not enjoy being lathered down with soap from head to toe, so make sure you have a good handle on your dog. He will probably try to shake it off. Once everything is lathered, rinse the dog shampoo completely off of the dog. And let the dog shake and shake the water off of himself. Follow this with a good pat down with fresh towels.
