Dog BehaviorNo matter what type of dog you may have, each dog will exhibit a different type of dog behavior. Dogs can be described as being a predator that has body parts that are made to hunt, chase, kill and eat. The size and color and the shape of the dog has no bearing on the behavior of the dog. There are some dogs in particular that are predator dogs just by nature. The predator dogs include Toy Poodles, Bulldogs and Golden Retrievers, German Shepherds and Newfoundlands.
It has been noted that many dog behavior problems is because of physical problems that the dog may have. If you ever notice a dramatic unexpected dog behavior in your dog, it is important to determine why as soon as possible. Discuss the problem with your local veterinarian. It is counter productive to get mad at another dog if there is a problem going on with the dog itself. However, do keep in mind that physical problems are not always to blame, it should just be ruled out first. Some dog breeds automatically possess breed specific behaviors. These
behaviors may include tracking ability, fierceness in the face of danger,
or a heightened sense of personal territory. Many years ago, dogs in
a sense had a job. Sporting dogs hunt and retrieve birds, hound dogs track
down mammals by their scent, and terrier dogs dig into vermin dens. Though
few dogs have these types of jobs now, many of them still rely on their
instincts to do such activities. Many dog breeders study dog behavior.
They are interested in knowing if dog behavior skills can be sharpened
and whether or not their instinct will survive and be polished for peak
performance. |
