Dog Bark

Perhaps you have lain in bed at night wondering why does a dog bark? You lie there, in your bed, trying to sleep, but are continually disturbed by the dog bark coming from your neighbor’s collie. You dog likely wants to spend time with you and your family, who he views as his pack. If you find your dog barking at people such as the mail man, meter reader, or neighbors, you may want to take the time to introduce them to your pet. If your dog is familiar with who is approaching the home, he may be less likely to bark in the future at that person.

No matter why your dog barks, you want to know what to do to stop it. Well, the key to helping your dog change his barking ways is in kindness, not punishment and cruelty. In many cases, excessive dog barking is caused by putting the dog in a position to fail or placing unreasonable expectations on him. The most important thing to remember is to use common sense, place reasonable expectations on the dog, and remember that just as the problem didn’t develop overnight that changing it back won’t either.
